Domestic Violence: Beyond the Obvious

Domestic violence is a crime often perceived as starting when the 911 call is made and officers respond to the scene.  In reality, the abuse begins before anyone besides the offender and the victim are involved.  This training puts into perspective the happenings behind closed doors and the effect it can have on the victim, responders, and the community at large.

Objectives:

• Break down fact patterns and identify how to contextualize the abuser and victim behaviors.
• Discuss lethality assessments and how to build a High Risk Assessment Team.
• Provide information on building a stalking case.
• Use the context of abuse patterns, deconstruct the perpetrators use of force, and use of expert witnesses to prosecute cases.

This training is for all disciplines, including prosecutors, law enforcement, advocates, probation officers, and community service providers.
